the beginning
Chester & Wasky met at Olin College circa 2008. ("Circa" because neither remembers the actual first time they met.) They independently moved to Seattle in 2010 and 2011, and over the years became close, and then best, friends. In late March of 2017 after some pep talks from friends, Chester basically asked Wasky out, and she said "uh, not sure, maybe, can we talk later?" and then they went on an awesome not-date date. A VERY awkward drive to Canada and dinner with a friend later, they decided to make it official on April Fool's Day. Just over a year later, they owned a house together, and just over a year after that, they adopted Vesta & Snallygaster, their cats who are both very good beasts.
the engagement
After both working from home for a few years during the pandemic, the originally appealing "let's get engaged on the couch at home" idea was...less appealing. So Chesky decided to go ridiculous. They picked a week, and each picked a day of that week, to propose. It involved islands, and ferries, and planes, and also Chester sneakily bringing Wasky's passport to whisk her away to Victoria BC. (Have you ever seen Wasky try to be chill? Now imagine checking in for a flight that she didn't know about and trying not to seem like she was being kidnapped in front of customs. BE. CHILL.) It was absolutely perfect and absolutely them. They can't wait to share another magical weekend with all of you!
